A Personal Blog

A long overdue task that, hopefully, will survive

"Create a blog." "Why don't you start a blog?" "Write whatever you want in a personal blog. But start it now!" are some of the thoughts that have haunted me for at least the last 10 years. I started a little blog on comicbooks and movies back when I was in college but consistency was the real challenge. It always has been.

As time went by, my schedule became busier (yes, I need time to read comics and play videogames) and this "adult life" made a lot of things pretty much impossible. Or maybe it just gave me more excuses to NOT start a personal blog... Anyway, I want to start anew tonight. I feel the need to write about a lot of things I always wanted to write about. That´s the main purpose of this blog.

It's been a while since I wrote anything consistently but I'm going to do my best to have regular entries, at least once a week. There really is a long list with topics, news, thoughts and all things I feel the need to talk write about. That's why I'm going to need different sections or pages to bring a little order to my blog.

On Life

Life is weird. As you grow up, you start to notice how everyone is just wandering through the world figuring one thing at a time. And that's fine! But no one prepares you to the challenge and most of the people out there expects you to know how everything works. I don't know how the education system works in other countries, but in Sombrero Land, education itself is dead and it's been dead for decades. Nobody teaches you how to do your taxes, or buy a house, or how banks actually works, or something you will absolutely need on your daily adult life.

I'm aware that school will not give you everything you need to know. I'm aware that the perfect education is the one that inspires you to learn stuff on your own; by researching, asking questions to the right people, so on and so forth. Nonetheless, there are a lot of things that, I think, should be taught at school... And now I'm getting off tracks.

This is the kind of things I want to write about in the "On Life" section. You get the idea.

On Work

Most people thing their whole life is their "professional careers". And by "professional careers" I mean "becoming a desk jockey". All their knowledge, training and hopes of professional growth distorts into repeated tasks that makes the rich even richer in exchange for a couple of gift cards and some days off.

I believe that we exist for something more than "finally! Pay day!". I believe everyone can and should create something that will stand the test of time. I believe we start our education from a very young age to become the best version of ourselves, not to become another gear in the machine.

I may not have a lot of years of being an office drone, but I notice so many things that are wrong with the idea of having a "job", not only with bosses and higher executives, but also with the average Joe. And this section is about all of it.

On Nerding

I love comics, videogames, novels, movies and a lot of things related with the so called "geek" or "pop" culture. I always want to talk about the comicbooks I read, the videogames I play, and... well, I know you get it. Even though I have a Youtube channel (in Spanish) and a Twitch channel (in English), I love writing.
